The proposal to upgrade the existing ‘crossroad’ intersection to a roundabout at Orrvale Road and Poplar Avenue has successfully secured external “Blackspot” funding.
The construction of this roundabout will significantly increase traffic safety at this important intersection within the Greater Shepparton region, with every intention of reducing speed, risk, traffic accidents and most importantly, fatalities.
Construction of this project is planned to commence Wednesday 4 September 2024 and will run for approximately 9 weeks, pending weather.
In order to safely and effectively ‘construct’ the new upgraded roundabout, the intersection will be closed to all public vehicle traffic. A suitable detour route will be in place.
The construction period will aim to utilise the spring school holidays, to reduce disruption to traffic as much as possible. During the construction of the roundabout intersection, a detour route will be in place and Channel Road will continue to be available throughout the construction period.
See the map below of the intersection closure.
We are asking all of the community to make arrangements to use alternate routes.
We would like to thank you for your support as we plan to deliver a significant project, providing a safer intersection for the Greater Shepparton community.
