Expression of Interest - The First 72 Hours Workshop

We're looking for people interested in taking part in ‘The First 72 Hours Workshop’ where you can learn to develop an emergency plan for your unique needs in an emergency.

What is involved in The First 72 Hours Workshop?

The workshop covers the following topics:

  • Why the First 72Hours?
  • How you can develop an emergency plan.
  • How to consider, and plan for your unique needs in an emergency.
  • Where you can receive emergency warnings and updates.
  • Resources available to assist you, and where you can find them.

Why is council delivering these workshops to community?

  • To increase communities capacity to respond to their own needs in a disaster.
  • Build awareness about the need to be self-sufficient for at least the first three days after an emergency is declared.
  • Emergencies can be hard to predict and emergency services may be unable to reach you in a disaster.
  • No one knows your needs better than you, so it’s important to have a plan that suits your households to take care of your needs.

What will I learn?

  • Different aspects of a plan that need to be considered.
  • What emergency services roles are during an emergency.
  • How you can work together as a street/neighbourhood to be better prepared.

Who is the workshop for?

  • Anyone in community. Kids under 15 should be accompanied by a guardian.
  • People who may need additional support during a disaster and are looking for more information to develop a plan
  • Long standing residents of the community who would like some updated information and additional resources specific to your local context
