Shepparton East Community Plan
Shepparton East is a proud community known for its rich agricultural roots and close-knit feel, the community is seeing an increase in young families, and it continues to evolve as a vibrant place to live, work and connect.
The town is surrounded by farmland, with a particular emphasis on orchard-based agriculture. It is broadly recognised for its contribution to the region’s fruit production, notably apples and pears, alongside a variety of other crops.
According to the 2021 Census, Shepparton East had a population of 1,192 and a median age of 42, with recent growth in young families shaping a more dynamic and evolving community.
The Shepparton East Community Action Plan identifies priority focus areas and outlines clear, practical actions the Community Planning Group will take to achieve them. Priorities classified as high in the Plan include enhancing child road and pedestrian safety, improving footpaths/shared paths and strengthening community engagement through events.
Achievements
Since 2024, the Shepparton East Community Planning Group (CPG) has coordinated a range of initiatives to strengthen community connection, some of the key achievements of the CPG includes:
- a movie night in 2025 to enhance community engagement
- a Neighbour Day Community BBQ
- installation of a new community noticeboard
- successful in a Small-Town Festive Decorations grant
- completing community consultation and subsequently developing the 2025 community plan.

- Upgraded community facilities and infrastructure
- Stronger community connections through events
- Enhanced recreational spaces and local amenities
- Advocacy for essential services and future growth
