Drummond Road Drainage Upgrade Works

Greater Shepparton City Council will be undertaking Drummond Road drainage upgrade works to minimise the damage to properties as a result of flooding following major storm events.

The necessary upgrade of drainage infrastructure at Drummond Road, Shepparton was identified through Council's 2020 Drainage Strategy, which focused on identifying and addressing historic and nuisance stormwater issues that affect the community. This strategy assisted with creating a plan to prevent future flooding issues at the key intersection of New Dookie Road and Drummond Road.

The Drummond Road drainage upgrade will involve installing new drainage pipes, stormwater pits, concrete kerbing, and resurfacing sections of the road.

The contract for these works was awarded at the Ordinary Council Meeting in August 2024 to Mawson Constructions Pty Ltd, with works anticipated to be completed by late December 2024, weather permitting.

Construction will start at the intersection of Drummond Road and Joseph Baldwin Place, continuing north along Drummond Road and extending 200 metres east along the south side of New Dookie Road.

To facilitate safe construction, the northbound traffic lane of Drummond Road will be closed between Joseph Baldwin Place and New Dookie Road from Monday 30 September 2024 for the duration of works. The New Dookie Road and Drummond Road intersection will be managed by traffic controllers as required, with delays to be expected.

Please note, access to businesses in the area will be maintained throughout the works and their operations will continue as usual.

Works will take place between the hours of 7am and 8pm, Monday to Friday, however there may be occasions where weekend works are required.

These works are fully funded by the Australian Government’s Roads to Recovery (RTR) Program.
