Final preparations are underway for one of Greater Shepparton’s biggest multicultural parties; Converge on the Goulburn, which kicks off tomorrow, Friday 17 March. The festival is set to enthral, entertain and delight families and visitors over two big evenings of food, music, performance and art.
Bringing together the vibrancy and richness of Greater Shepparton’s Aboriginal and multicultural communities, this year's event will showcase an exciting and diverse range of cultural art, including Chinese calligraphy, Turkish Ebru painting, African wood carving, Henna, local artists and more.
Audiences will also be delighted by dancers from Tonga and Malaysia and will have a chance to engage with performances by renowned Aboriginal singer/songwriter and proud Mutti Mutti man Kutcha Edwards, folktronic act Amaru Tribe, and the incredibly talented Yorta Yorta artist, Maddi Colville Walker.
Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, is encouraging everyone to come along and celebrate the diversity of the local community.
“Converge on the Goulburn is a truly unique festival for the region and the state, focusing on our people, culture and way of life.”
“We encourage you to bring your family and friends, especially those who live outside of Greater Shepparton, to experience our proud way of life and celebrate together as a community”, Councillor Sali said.
