Greater Shepparton City Council, through its destination brand Shepparton & Goulburn Valley, is excited to invite community members to participate in the art contest: A cup of Shepp and GV.
Our diverse community and its people are at the heart of what makes this region special. This contest focuses on showcasing the hidden talents of the community, with the opportunity for residents to develop creative artwork which represents some of the unique towns found within the region.
The competition commences today, Monday 10 July 2023, at 12.00pm and closes on Sunday 6 August 2023 at 10.00pm.
Open to all ages, artists are encouraged to use their favourite physical media technique to create an original art piece that represents one of the following communities in Shepparton and Goulburn Valley: Shepparton, Mooroopna, Tatura, Dookie and Murchison.
Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, said this was an exciting opportunity to showcase the talented people residing in Greater Shepparton.
”We are very excited to see the amazing talent in our region. This contest is a great opportunity to celebrate our colourful community and showcase the creativity of our residents,” Cr Sali said
“We invite artists living in Greater Shepparton to participate, amateur or professionals, from all ages and backgrounds, we want to see our fantastic townships captured through your art.”
Artworks are to be submitted via Council’s website. A shortlist of pieces will then be assessed and judged by a professional judging panel.
A total of five winners will be chosen, one art piece per town. Winners will be announced at 12.00pm on Monday 14 August 2023 via Shepparton & Goulburn Valley social media channels – Facebook and Instagram.
Finalists will be invited to attend an awards ceremony where the winning artworks will be revealed and prizes presented. The winners will receive an art package, including a voucher for art supplies, entry to an art workshop and more.
The winning artworks will be celebrated through a limited-edition print run of coffee cups to be featured in cafes and restaurants across the region.
Entries are open to all ages and skill levels. A Cup of Shepp and GV is an open call to all artists living in Greater Shepparton, to participate and showcase their creativity and talent. For further information and contest guidelines please visit shepp.city/artcontest
