The free youth-led event will run from 6pm to 8pm at Shepparton Library and will feature live music from local young musicians and bands, free pizza and creative activities.
Delivered through Council’s Amplify Youth Committee, with support from Goulburn Valley Libraries and the Victorian Government, Amplify Creative Hub gives young people a safe and welcoming space to connect, learn new skills and explore their creativity.
The September Live Music Night will feature performances by Shepparton-based band Dirty Denim and new youth band Novacane.
Dirty Denim delivers high-energy alternative and rock covers, with powerful vocals, guitars and driving rhythms. Novacane will also perform as part of the Live Music Night, giving young local musicians the chance to showcase their talent in a supportive community setting.
Alongside the live music, the Amplify Youth Committee will lead drop-in creative activities including bracelet making, bookmark making, board games and puzzles.
Deputy Mayor, Councillor Geoff Akers said the September session is a great way to celebrate young people and local creativity during Victorian Youth Month.
“Amplify Creative Hub continues to give young people a place where they can express themselves, connect with others and take part in creative opportunities close to home,” he said.
“This Live Music Night is a wonderful chance to support local young musicians while bringing the community together in a fun and welcoming space.”
Council’s Director Healthy Communities and Liveability, Briana Baass, said the program continues to grow through youth-led ideas and participation.
“Each Amplify Creative Hub session is shaped around the interests of young people, with activities designed to be accessible, creative and welcoming,” she said.
“The September Live Music Night will give young performers a platform while also creating a relaxed space for young people to socialise, take part in activities and enjoy live music.”
The August Creative Hub session focused on music, with young people taking part in freestyle rap, music recording, a CD and vinyl swap and creative drop-in activities.
Participants were actively engaged throughout the session, with positive feedback received from young people who enjoyed the workshops and the chance to connect with others in a relaxed creative space.
Amplify Creative Hub is designed for young people aged 12 to 25, with everyone welcome to come along.
The program will continue monthly until November, with the final Amplify Creative Hub session scheduled to be held on Saturday 17 October.
