Council is pleased to advise that works have progressed to the second stage, the south side of the intersection.
To facilitate works on the link road between Ash Street and New Dookie Road, the link road will be closed from Friday 22 November 2019 for a minimum of three weeks to improve road safety and allow works to be undertaken on this section of road.
Businesses along New Dookie Road, Glenn Street and Conifer Street will still be open as per usual.
Access to New Dookie Road businesses between Wheeler and Hawdon
Streets is available through a temporary service lane that can be entered by vehicles travelling west along New Dookie Road.
Conifer Street businesses can be accessed from Verney Road via Birch Street.
Greater Shepparton City Council Director Infrastructure Phil Hoare said Council appreciates the community’s ongoing support during the works. Council is focused on safety and ensuring the works are completed in the most efficient manner. The decision to close the link road is for both safety and work reasons.
“Traffic controllers will assist movement at peak times for the remainder of this week. Once the link road is closed we will complete the upgrade works on the link road intersection and re-assess the situation prior to the Christmas break,” said Mr Hoare.
“We ask that those who drive through this area ensure they allow enough time to get to their destination safely and stay alert to the changing arrangements and follow the detour signs.”
Anyone who would like further information or would like to discuss any particular issues can contact Council’s projects department projects@shepparton.vic.gov.au or (03) 5832 9535.
We thank those residents and business owners who are participating in the project reference committee meetings and look forward to their ongoing involvement.
