Greater Shepparton City Council is commencing preliminary design consultation for the Greater Shepparton Bike Jump Park and is looking for feedback and ideas from the community on what they would like to see included.
In Summary
The proposed plan is to revitalise the former harness racing site located at the corner of McLennan Street and Elsie Jones Drive, Mooroopna and Council is seeking input from bike-loving families, kids, teenagers and ‘big kids’ to help create a great facility. It is intended that the Greater Shepparton Bike Jump Park will primarily be targeted at beginner through to intermediate riders, allowing skill development and ongoing rider progression and enjoyment.
Council’s Director Infrastructure, Gary Randhawa, said Council supports the creation of family friendly, safe recreation spaces and is excited to be engaging with local youth, residents, families and the general community in the development of this exciting project.
“This is a great opportunity for local youth and bike enthusiasts alike to provide their feedback and help shape the direction and design of the bike jump park,” he said.
There will be multiple ways to provide feedback and share ideas with Council, including attending a community consultation session where you can discuss your feedback and ideas in person with staff directly involved in the project, including the Project Manager. The session will take place at the Mooroopna Education and Activity Centre on Monday 9 September 2024 from 4pm to 6pm.
If you cannot make the community consultation session but would like to provide feedback, you can submit your feedback to Council by:
“We are asking those interested in the project to share the word and encourage others to provide their ideas. The more feedback we receive the better we can make the facility, and in turn, the more people we will hopefully see using it when complete,” Mr Randhawa said.
This preliminary consultation stage closes at midnight on Friday 13 September 2024. Please ensure that feedback is provided within this timeframe.
The second stage will see the design consultant collate all of the feedback provided to produce initial concept designs, which will then be made available to the public for additional feedback before the final design is locked in.
