During the transition period, the Shepparton Resource Recovery Centre will continue to accept concrete and brick waste.
From January 2027, customers will only be able to drop off up to 0.5 cubic metres of concrete or brick waste in the allocated skip bin at the Shepparton Resource Recovery Centre.
The operational change will improve site efficiency and safety, by directing bulk loads through the Cosgrove Landfill weighbridge. The precinct will be supported by an automated weighbridge system, Mandalay waste management software and appropriate signage to assist incoming customers.
Managing bulk concrete and brick loads through Cosgrove Landfill will support administration under EPA guidelines and improve occupational health and safety and environmental controls. This includes improved management of silica dust exposure and reduced interaction between bulk waste operations and individual customers attending the Shepparton Resource Recovery Centre.
Council’s Director Infrastructure, Aidin Montazami, said the change would improve service delivery and support resource recovery outcomes across the region.
“The relocation of bulk concrete and brick disposal to Cosgrove Landfill provides a dedicated and efficient location for residents, businesses and contractors to dispose of these materials while ensuring they are managed in a safe and sustainable way.”
Customers seeking further information, or those wishing to establish a new account for bulk concrete and brick disposal, should contact Council’s Resource Recovery Department on 5832 9700 or email waste@shepparton.vic.gov.au for assistance with account setup and disposal requirements.
