Greater Shepparton City Council is excited to bring back a much-loved event for the community to celebrate, with the Carols by Candlelight performance taking place this year in a COVID safe manner.
The annual celebration, which traditionally takes place in the Queens Gardens, will be a completely online event this year for families and friends to enjoy from the comfort of their homes on Sunday 20 December.
“The Carols by Candlelight event brings the community together to celebrate the festive season, and this online event provides the opportunity for the community to reconnect and celebrate virtually,” Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor Councillor Kim O’Keeffe said.
“This year has been difficult for our community, but we continue to stay strong and work together to keep everyone safe,” Cr O’Keeffe said.
“I encourage everyone to gather safely in a way that complies with the restrictions of the time, and tune in to our talented local performers and share the online festivities with family and friends from outside our community, living interstate or even internationally and celebrate getting through the year together.
“This year we will still be able to enjoy the usual Carols performance as well as be able to enjoy additional activities with festive recipes and decoration tutorials released online ahead of the live performance to get the community into the festive spirit.”
The community’s favourite carollers will be performing, closed to the public, from Riverlinks Westside and be available to stream from 7pm Sunday 20 December via Council’s website and Facebook page.
