Greater Shepparton City Council proudly celebrated the graduation of the 2024 Community Leadership Program cohort at a special event held on Wednesday 28 August 2024.
In Summary
The 2024 Community Leadership Program, funded by Council, has continued its 11-year tradition of providing an accessible and respected platform for local emerging leaders to cultivate their leadership skills. This year’s program, facilitated by Shane Garner Consulting, featured seven workshops covering key topics such as community leadership, understanding community and diversity, communication styles and conflict resolution, public speaking, reflection, resilience and goal setting.
Over the past four months, 18 participants have also had the opportunity to participate in online mentoring and 1:1 coaching, honing their leadership abilities and building a network of valuable connections. The graduation event celebrated their achievements and the progress they have made throughout the program.
Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Cr Shane Sali, who himself graduated from the program in 2020, expressed his enthusiasm for the graduates' accomplishments.
“It is inspiring to see the dedication and growth of this year’s participants. Their journey through the program has been a testament to their hard work, resilience, and eagerness to learn,” he said.
“The Community Leadership Program not only equips individuals with crucial leadership skills, it also builds a strong sense of community and commitment. We are excited to see these graduates apply their newfound knowledge and utilise their valuable connections made to drive positive change within our community.”
The Community Leadership Program empowers local leaders and drives community development. Council extends its congratulations to the graduates and looks forward to their continued contributions to the Greater Shepparton community.
