Greater Shepparton’s cultural diversity will be on show again as Converge on the Goulburn takes over Victoria Park Lake later this month.
Converge is more than just a festival, it brings together food, culture and performances from Greater Shepparton’s Aboriginal and multicultural communities in celebrating the richness of our community.
Taking place on Saturday 28 March, Converge will be the closing celebration for the annual Shepparton Festival and the entire community is invited to come down and take part in the festivities. The festival is a colourful cultural celebration with nonstop music, movement, colour, art and tasty authentic foods from all corners of the globe.
Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor Seema Abdullah said residents and visitors have the chance to emerge themselves in an array of cultures.
“In celebrating the diversity that comprises Greater Shepparton, Converge on the Goulburn is the perfect way for you and your family to learn more about and experience the values, rituals and traditions of the many cultures that call Greater Shepparton home,” Cr Abdullah said.
Residents have the chance to participate in interactive arts and cultural workshops and activities, or relax in the outdoor dining area while enjoying flavoursome cuisine cooked by some of our many local communities, food trucks and local businesses.
“There will definitely be something for everyone at Converge on the Goulburn, the lake is the perfect setting for an evening of music, fun and food,” Cr Abdullah said.
Local culture groups participating include Aboriginal, Afghani, Dutch, Filipino, Greek, Indian, Italian, Iraqi, Pakistani, Sri Lankan and Syrian.
