Greater Shepparton City Council noted the awarding of more than $1.6 million in contracts at its December Council Meeting.
Five contracts were noted, totalling $1,602,004.81 for important projects across Greater Shepparton. This included $287,336.50 which was awarded to local company Crow Constructions Pty Ltd for the design and construct of playground shade sails at nine different sites throughout Greater Shepparton. The shade sails will provide a cooler environment for children and users of the playgrounds in hot weather. These works are currently in the design stage, and are expected to be completed by 31 March 2025, weather permitting.
More than $100,000 was awarded to Waratah Constructions (Vic) Pty Ltd for guard rail upgrade works along Bridge Road, Cosgrove South.
Over $440,000 was awarded to O’Loughlin Excavations Pty Ltd for the Culvert Renewal along Byrneside-Gillieston Road, Merrigum. These works are part of Council’s Major Culvert Renewal Program and include upgrading the crossing across Mosquito Depression and installing new guard rails. The works will commence in mid-January 2025, and are expected to take approximately 10 weeks to complete, weather permitting.
A total of $97,790 was awarded to another local company, Watters Electrical Pty Ltd, for the installation of lighting at the Victoria Park Lake Skate Park in Shepparton. This project will enable the community and visitors increased opportunity to safely use the skate park during evenings.
Lastly, $665,500 was awarded to local company JMB Constructions (Australia) Pty Ltd, for the design and construction of the Multi Use Change Room Facility at VISY Stadium, Shepparton. This contract is part of a fully funded project through the Victorian Government’s Council Support Package. The Multi Use Change Room Facility will be available for use by all stadium and oval user groups, providing modern, inclusive facilities to support local teams and community events. Design work is currently underway, with works expected to be completed prior to the end of June 2025, weather permitting.
Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, congratulated each of the tenderers on their successful contracts.
“It is always great to note the awarding of these contracts at our Council Meetings, particularly for works that are important to the growth and development of our region,” he said.
