Greater Shepparton City Council noted the awarding of more than $1.9 million in contacts for three projects at the December Council Meeting on Tuesday. These works include essential maintenance and projects which keep our region moving and residents safe.
Moretto Building Pty Ltd were awarded $768,908 for the design and construction of the Congupna Recreation Reserve changeroom. Initial demolition is anticipated to begin in late January, with works expected to be completed by May. Designs which incorporate feedback from the Congupna Football Netball Club, are currently under review.
The contract for the construction of the Silkwater Plains shared path, near Ross Street, Tatura, was awarded to Tactile Australia Pty Ltd and One Stop Civil, totalling $388,841. The shared path is aimed to provide safer pedestrian access to the Silkwater estate. Works for this project are expected to be completed in February 2026.
A contract valued at $778,363 was awarded to SRB Air Conditioning trading as Brett Collins Refrigeration. This contract is for the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) renewal at Council’s Doyles Road Complex. The current HVAC systems have reached end of service life and are no longer compliant with current codes and standards.
Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, highlighted the importance of projects such as these.
“These projects highlight an important part of Council’s role within the community. Our region’s infrastructure must be up to standard and meet community needs and expectations. We appreciate the community’s patience whilst these works are being completed,” he said.
“The Congupna Recreation Reserve is an important community asset and it is vital that these facilities be fit for purpose. I look forward to seeing works progress on this important project,” Deputy Mayor, Councillor Geoff Akers, Pine Lodge Ward, said.
“It’s pleasing to see the Silkwater Plains shared path contract awarded to a local tenderer. This path will increase connectivity and provide safer pedestrian access to the new estate,” Councillor Rod Schubert, Midland Ward, said.
