Greater Shepparton City Council noted the awarding of two contracts at its May Council Meeting held yesterday, for two significant projects in the region.
In Summary
The two contracts, totalling more than $600,000, included the construction of Edgewater Estate Creek Reserve Landscaping at Sevens Creek Drive, Kialla and the construction of Lauriston Estate St Lukes Shared Path, Shepparton North.
A contract for $377,565.54 was awarded to Preston’s Turf and Garden for the construction of Edgewater Estate Creek Reserve Landscaping at Sevens Creek Drive, Kialla. The works involve landscaping of the creek reserve that was constructed as part of the street and drainage works for the residential estate.
This contract will see the planting of tree reserves and garden bed areas. Soft landscaping with trees and plants will be established and street furniture including seats, tables, benches and rubbish bins will be installed along the newly constructed asphalt shared path. The area will complete this open space and provide shared path connectivity to Council’s existing network.
Council also noted a contract for $235,189.90 was awarded to Mawson Constructions Pty Ltd for the construction of Lauriston Estate St Luke’s Shared Path, Shepparton North. This contract will see the construction of a 2.5 metre wide, 350 metre long concrete shared use path in Shepparton North.
The path will primarily run within the road reserve in front of St Luke’s Catholic Primary School, from Providence Estate to Grace Road, extending on the existing shared path network and connect the residential estates to the school precinct.
The works include site clearing, formation of the concrete path, minor fencing, guard rail works and signage.
Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, congratulated the tenderers on their successful contracts.
“It is always great to note the awarding of these contracts at our Council Meetings, particularly for works that are important to the development and connectivity of our region,” he said.
“We look forward to seeing these works get underway and we have no doubt the community will benefit from the completion. Both projects provide further safety measures and convenience when travelling within Greater Shepparton.”
