Greater Shepparton City Council received a total of 750 submissions and heard 38 verbal briefing presentations over a two-day period from residents, business owners and community members who wished to be heard on the proposal to sell airspace above the Maude, Nixon and Edward Streets Car Park.
Council officers will now consider and review each of these submissions and verbal briefings, including all material provided by submitters to Council at the briefings, and prepare two reports to Council. This includes a conversation report which will outline the consultation process, contents of submissions and Council officers’ responses to each of the concerns raised, and a Council report that will make a recommendation to Council on the proposal.
All submissions, verbal briefings and Council officers’ reports will then be considered by Council at a future Council Meeting. Due to the length of submissions and verbal briefings received, reviewing all of the feedback and recommendations will take time. Council officers have also commissioned additional technical expert reports to appropriately analyse and respond to matters raised in submissions.
Mayor, Councillor Kim O’Keeffe thanked each of the residents, business owners and community members who made a submission or presented a verbal presentation to Council.
“Council officers are reviewing each of the submissions and verbal briefings to prepare reports that will be essential to the process of this proposal,” she said.
“Council are addressing this as a priority to get to a future Council Meeting, most likely June at the earliest and subject to the completion of further work.”
As part of the process, Council officers may be in contact with submitters to clarify any concerns raised in their submissions or verbal briefings. A copy of the recording of the verbal briefing can be found on shaping Greater Shepparton.
