Greater Shepparton City Council adopted its Council Plan for 2021-2025 at Monday’s Additional Council Meeting.
The Council Plan is a legislated document that states the strategic direction of Council over the next four years. The document includes the objectives that influence the priorities of the Councillors during their term, while guiding decision making and the allocation of resources to deliver outcomes and services to the community.
A Community Vision, developed by a Community Panel, was adopted by Council in June 2021. MosicacLab, a company comprising of specialist facilitators and engagement practitioners, led the Community Panel in the development of 10-year community outcomes which establish an aspirational view of the Greater Shepparton region.
The Council Plan outlines how the organisation will work towards achieving this vision, while including the priorities and objectives that Council intends to achieve over the next four years. The final document has been developed through a deliberate engagement process including the Councillors, Community Panel, Council employees and advisory groups.
The draft Council Plan was released for community consultation in September with the feedback gathered and considered. This feedback then helped shape the final document which Council adopted on Monday.
Mayor, Cr Kim O’Keeffe thanked everyone who shared their thoughts on the draft document and helped shape the future of the region.
“Council received over 1,500 contributions during the community consultation period which was a fantastic result,” she said.
“I want to thank everyone who shared their thoughts and helped guide this important document for Council. We want to ensure the outcomes and services we deliver to the community over the next four years are important to those who will utilise and benefit from them.”
