Council welcomes further relief for primary producers through a freeze on the ESVF
Posted on
Friday 5th of December, 2025,
The latest State Budget update has been delivered, and Greater Shepparton City Council is pleased to see primary producers will receive a rate freeze through the Emergency Services and Volunteers Fund (ESVF) for a further two years.
Council has been advocating strongly for this much needed relief, alongside the joint partnership of Regional Cities Victoria (RCV), Rural Councils Victoria (RCV) and the Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV).
“We have continued our strong advocacy as we recognise the challenges faced by regional communities,” Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali said.
“In line with the strategic direction of our 2025-2029 Council Plan, which prioritises the needs of our agriculture and horticulture industries, our advocacy has contributed to securing a positive short-term outcome for farmers and growers."
"Although this is a win and a significant reprieve for many, we will continue the discussions and our ongoing advocacy for the best outcomes of our community.”
