This group will provide advice and expertise to guide the implementation of Council’s recently adopted Creative City Strategy.
Director Community, Louise Mitchell said the strategy was developed following extensive community consultation in 2021, with the final document an important one for the region.
“Council is committed to unlocking the creative potential of the Greater Shepparton community, enabling creativity in all its forms to enhance liveability, economic growth, wellbeing and social cohesion,” she said.
To achieve this, Council is now seeking to form an Advisory Group to guide the implementation of the Strategy and to advise Council more broadly on creative opportunities within the municipality.
The group will comprise of up to 14 members including three Council officers, a delegate from the Shepparton Art Museum, six community members and up to four creative industry representatives. The Advisory Group will meet at least four times a year, with a chairperson to be selected at the first meeting.
Ms Mitchell said Council were seeking applications for the six community positions, encouraging anyone interested to apply.
“Council is seeking a diverse range of representation from across Greater Shepparton to help establish the Advisory Group,” she said.
“I encourage any community members who live, work or study in Greater Shepparton and can contribute skills, understanding and expertise in arts, culture or the creative industry to submit their interest.”
