Scholarships of up to $15,000 are now available for Shepparton’s youth either enrolled in or looking to enrol in a VET course, thanks to the Commonwealth Scholarships Program for Young Australians (CSPFYA).
The Program is part of the Federal Government’s $585 million Skills Package, Delivering Skills for Today and Tomorrow.
The round currently open is Round 3, with the first instalment of Round 3 opening on 26 October 2020 and closing on 4 December 2020.
The second instalment of Round 3 will open 29 January 2021 and close 12 March 2021.
The CSPFYA offers the opportunity for eligible youth aged 15-24 years old and ex-ADF (transitioned within the past two years, no age restrictions) in Shepparton, who are already enrolled or are looking to enrol into a Vocation Education and Training (VET) course.
Those eligible can apply for a scholarship worth up to $14,500, this will provide financial assistance for costs directly related to studies.
The program provides the scholarships over three years, with up to $5,000 per year.
CSPFYA supports youth and ex-ADF in gaining critical employability skills as well as hands on work experience through completing a 20-day internship or mandatory work placement, enabling them to enter the workforce and gain sustainable employment.
Flexible study methods for students include face-to-face learning, online/distance learning and blended learning.
Successful scholars will receive fortnightly payments for the duration of their course, and an additional $3,000 for completion of work placement or up to $3,000 for a 20-day paid internship with a local business.
