Greater Shepparton City Council’s 2023-2024 Annual Report is now available, with the document detailing the highlights and achievements of the organisation during the past financial year.
In Summary
The document reports against the third year of the 2021-2025 Council Plan, and provides an account of Council’s financial management during the past 12 months. At the end of the third year of the Council Plan, 66 of the 81 key performance indicators have been achieved or are on track, which is a significant achievement.
The Annual Report also outlines the major announcements and activities which happened across the municipality. During the 2023/2024 financial year, Council achieved many key milestones while navigating a range of challenges, with financial sustainability at the forefront of the organisations priority setting and decision making. Some key priorities included water security, economic development, and infrastructure projects which are critical to the region’s future.
The document further outlines some of the major moments which shaped the past 12 months, including the Regional Commonwealth Games being axed in July 2023, continued recovery from the 2022 flood emergency, kerbside collection changes rolled out across the municipality in October 2023, minor flooding in January 2024, funding for game changing BMX and cycling upgrades, and the purple lid bin collection commencing in June 2024. Other points of interest include:
CEO Fiona Le Gassick said there were many moments which shaped the past 12 months in Greater Shepparton, acknowledging the work of the organisation to remain cohesive and support the wider community throughout this time.
“It is important to acknowledge that many of the achievements celebrated in the 2023/2024 Annual Report have occurred in partnership with our community. Whether it has been activities delivered via the Resilience in Recovery Program, delivery of cultural and sporting events, development of the Positive Ageing Strategy or community planting as part of National Tree Day,” she said
“Importantly, during the past 12 months we continued to stand up for the current and future needs of our region, advocating at state and federal levels for increased social and affordable housing, as well as greater water security to support our continued prosperity.
“I am extremely pleased of our very capable and passionate staff for adapting seamlessly to the ever changing needs of our community, navigating a range of complexities, and continuing to uphold a high standard of service delivery,” she said.
“We look forward to continuing the positive work with the community to build on our region’s successes and create an even brighter future for Greater Shepparton.”
