Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, has thanked outgoing CEO Peter Harriott for his commitment to the organisation over the past eight years.
Mr Harriott will finish up in the role on 4 January 2024 after eight years at the helm. Cr Sali said Mr Harriott would leave a strong legacy for the organisation, having established many solid foundations and relationships during his time in the role.
“Peter has achieved a power of work over the past eight years and we recognise and thank him for leading the organisation into a strong and sustainable position,” he said.
“The Councillors and I have appreciated Peter’s advice, support and guidance throughout our term and we are thankful for the leadership he showed us all.”
Mr Harriott played an instrumental role in many important infrastructure projects for the region over the past eight years, along with navigating the organisation through several challenges including the Covid-19 pandemic and the October 2022 flood event.
“Peter was instrumental in ensuring Council emerged in a strong and sustainable position following the pandemic and last year’s flood. He showed great leadership in assisting our region through its recovery following these challenges, and his strength and guidance was greatly appreciated,” Cr Sali said.
“During his time as CEO he led the organisation to a position of financial sustainability and established many positive foundations which can now be built on. We thank Peter for his efforts over the past eight years and wish him well for the future.”
Incoming CEO Fiona Le Gassick will commence in the role on 15 January 2024.
