Greater Shepparton will welcome some of the best squash players from around the world when the 2025 Greater Shepparton Squash International Championships are held from Thursday 3 to Sunday 6 July at the Goulburn Valley Squash Club.
In Summary
The Professional Squash Association (PSA) 6K Challenger Tour event will bring elite male and female athletes to the region, representing more than 13 countries including Austria, Belgium, India, Sri Lanka, France, Japan, England and others.
Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, said Council was proud to once again partner with Squash Victoria and the Goulburn Valley Squash Club to host a world-class event.
“This partnership with Squash Victoria and the Goulburn Valley Squash Club continues to strengthen our reputation as the sporting and events capital of regional Australia,” he said.
“We welcome the athletes and their supporters to our region and wish them all the best throughout the competition.”
“Greater Shepparton City Council is proud to support this fantastic event, which not only brings world-class sport to our region but also provides a significant boost to local businesses. Events like this fill our cafes, restaurants, accommodation providers and retail stores, delivering real economic benefits to the community,” Cr Sali said.
Squash and Racquetball Victoria’s Dennis Makaling, said the level of competition and international calibre of players is something special for the region.
“With over 13 countries represented by 32 players in the men's and women's categories, the tournament is set to bring high-level squash to the region. The world-ranked players will be competing for $6,000 in prize money, $3,000 for both the men’s and women’s categories, and the honour of winning a PSA Challenger event,” he said.
“We thank Greater Shepparton City Council, through Sports Marketing Australia, the Goulburn Valley Squash Club and the Victorian State Government for partnering with us to help deliver this prestigious event.”
Matches will take place at the Goulburn Valley Squash Club’s Archer Street courts, with preliminary rounds beginning Thursday 3 July and finals to be held Sunday afternoon.
