The award reflects Council’s efforts to grow the visitor economy during 2024/2025, including direct support for tourism operators, development programs to build industry capability, and marketing campaigns that attracted new audiences to the destination brand Shepparton & Goulburn Valley.

Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, congratulated the Visitor Economy team and highlighted the excellent work behind achieving this recognition.

“This award is a testament to the incredible efforts of Council’s Visitor Economy team and the Shepparton & Goulburn Valley destination brand in championing local tourism. Their commitment to creating opportunities and elevating our region as a must-visit destination is truly commendable,” he said.

“We are incredibly proud of our Greater Shepparton Visitor Centre team and wonderful volunteers who go above and beyond every day to service thousands of visitors annually. This is well deserved recognition for the work they do to make every visitor’s experience so memorable.”

The announcement follows an extensive application process, including an onsite judging visit. Greater Shepparton Visitor Centre showcased innovative initiatives such as its role in the TAC Pause Stop program, blending road safety with local storytelling through the Careful Cobber installation.

The Centre also supported major events like the GT Nationals with tailored visitor servicing, pop-up booths, themed Moooving Art cows, and custom itineraries. Collaboration with Goulburn Region Tourism on a forward-thinking Visitor Servicing Strategy further ensured consistent, high-quality experiences across the region.
