Greater Shepparton City Council is seeking community feedback on its Resource Recovery Centres to understand how the services meet residents’ needs when disposing of recycling and waste material.
In Summary
The Resource Recovery Centres (previously known as transfer stations and tips), are located in Ardmona, Murchison and Shepparton. They allow residents to dispose of household waste and recyclables not appropriate for household bins.
Council is currently seeking feedback to better understand how residents use the sites, particularly which one you go to, how often you visit, what you take there, and what are any barriers for use. A survey has been established on Council’s Shaping Greater Shepp website to collect this information, with residents able to have their say from now until midnight on Friday 30 May 2025.
Council’s Manager Resource Recovery, Liam Moller, said resource recovery is the process of separating materials from waste that can be recycled into new products, with the goal to divert as much waste as possible from landfill.
“Resource recovery is an important action in creating a circular economy where the value of products, materials and resources is maintained in the economy for as long as possible, and the generation of waste is minimised,” he said.
“Resource recovery means sharing, leasing, reusing, repairing, refurbishing and recycling existing materials and products for as long as possible. It involves the three stages of waste collection, sorting and segregation, and processing.
“We encourage residents to provide their feedback on Council’s Resource Recovery Centres while the survey is open.”

Residents can fill out a hardcopy survey at Council’s Customer Service Counter at 90 Welsford Street, Shepparton, between 9am and 4pm weekdays, or at Council’s Customer Service Outreach in Tatura and Mooroopna. Times and dates can be found by clicking here.
