Greater Shepparton City Council would like to advise of bus bay construction works on Hawdon Street commencing Monday 18 October.
During the works the southbound lane of Hawdon Street, from Glenlyon Avenue to Knight Street, will be closed. The northbound lane will remain open to traffic. The lane closure is expected to be reopened by Thursday 23 December.
Residents on the west side of Hawdon Street will be able to access their properties via the northbound lane. Access to other properties will not be affected.
Central Station Car Wash will be open with entry via the northbound lane and exit via the southbound lane.
The works form part of the Greater Shepparton Secondary College Traffic Management project. Council is working on a number of projects to provide safe access for road users and pedestrians in the area when the school opens next year.
Council has worked closely with the Department of Transport and Public Transport Victoria to determine the likely bus numbers and routes needed to support the increase in student numbers. Current advice is that the Hawdon Street bus bays will need to accommodate an estimated 30 bus services per morning and afternoon.
Council asks pedestrians and motorists to take care and obey all worksite and advisory signage in the vicinity.
If you require any further information please contact the Projects Department on 5832 9700 or email projects@shepparton.vic.gov.au.
Please refer to the Public Transport Victoria website for bus service locations and detours during the works: www.ptv.vic.gov.au
