Work is underway on changes at the Victoria Lake Holiday Park that will ensure the caravan park is able to trade as normal during the construction of the new Shepparton Art Museum.
Greater Shepparton City Council Director Infrastructure Phil Hoare said it’s exciting times with major activity about to start at this end of the Victoria Park Lake precinct. “There are several works underway at the caravan park site to improve access and facilities and these are being coordinated with the commencement of works on SAM.”
“We have moved the entry to the caravan park further down Fitzjohn Street to ensure the safety of park users and to separate traffic away from the SAM work site,” said Mr Hoare.
“This includes the installation of a boom gate at the new entrance, a new storage and laundry facility, a new reception building and installation and completing some refurbishment works to one of the existing amenities block within the park. This will provide amenities to the reception staff and an additional facility to park visitors.”
“Council is working closely with the existing managers of the park to ensure the changes meet the needs of both visitors and managers,” said Mr Hoare.
“We are also planning to install a new caretaker’s residence to replace the old residence that is no longer of a standard suitable as a residence,” said Mr Hoare.
“The managers have been very supportive of the changes and are looking forward to the developments that Council are undertaking and are confident that this will lift the profile and attractiveness of the park”.
Signage at Wyndham-Fitzjohn Street intersection will alert visitors to the new entrance.
“The caravan park will be able to operate as usual; the changes we are making will assist in the long term redevelopment of the site.”
