The Greater Shepparton Visitor Centre is looking for passionate individuals to be part of their award-winning team of volunteers and explore Shepparton and Goulburn Valley in new ways, while inspiring visitors to discover the region.
Located at the iconic SAM building on the shores of Victoria Park Lake, the Greater Shepparton Visitor Centre greets over 37,000 new and returning visitors annually, making the work of a volunteer essential to promote Shepparton and the Goulburn Valley to ensure that every visitor leaves with unforgettable memories.
Being a volunteer has wonderful benefits, including attending social events, exclusive tours and attractions, obtaining your Responsible Service of Alcohol certificate, increasing your professional skills, starting a career in the tourism or customer service industry, expanding your network and getting to represent the Visitor Centre at major events.
Successful candidates will be dedicated individuals, over 18 years of age, who are passionate and ready to welcome guests with warmth and enthusiasm. While customer service experience is a bonus, no previous experience is required, as comprehensive training will be provided.
Greater Shepparton City Council Visitor Experience Coordinator, Maree Glasson, said the Visitor Centre is much more than maps and information.
“We have seen an increasingly high rate of visitors to the region all wanting to explore the unique offerings across Shepparton and Goulburn Valley. We need enthusiastic and knowledgeable locals who can represent our dynamic culture, show off our friendly hospitality and help visitors get the most out of their stay,” Ms Glasson said.
“I encourage anyone who is passionate about the region to come in and say hello and speak to us about volunteer opportunities.”
Volunteers are asked to dedicate four hours of their time on a regular basis, providing the highest standard of customer service, assisting with merchandising and sales and supporting the day to day operations of the Visitor Centre.
To express interest in volunteering, fill in the form online or contact the Greater Shepparton Visitor Centre team via email at info@sheppandgv.com.au
With up to six new volunteer positions available, applications are now open until 5pm Friday 31 January 2025.
