Athletes from across Australia will return to Greater Shepparton in 2024 for the Australian Mixed Ultimate Division 2 Championships 2 at Shepparton’s Sports City Precinct.
The national level event pits the country’s top teams against each other for a three-day competition, with 30 teams from Division 2 playing off from Friday 12 April to Sunday 14 April 2024.
The tournament is expected to see more than 600 competitors and their support networks stay in Shepparton for the combined three-day event.
Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali said that hosting some of the best Frisbee players in Australia is an exciting experience for the community.
“We are very excited to welcome Australia’s top Ultimate Frisbee athletes back to Greater Shepparton after last playing in our region in 2022,” he said.
“The Open’s and Women’s Championships will see the very best male and female competitors using their strength and agility to sprint, leap and throw their way to victory, a lot more thrilling than your average backyard or park game.
“Ultimate Frisbee is a growing sport and we are proud to host them and invite them to experience all that Shepparton and Goulburn Valley have to offer. Having these athletes stay in the city for the three day competition greatly benefits our visitor economy industries and has a positive impact on local businesses as they sleep, eat, explore and play in the region.”
Chairman of the Australian Flying Disc Association (AFDA), the governing body for Ultimate Frisbee, Simon Farrow, said they were extremely excited to be hosting the event at Shepparton Sports City.
“These events will attract more than 600 athletes and staff to the local area and we are grateful for the support from Greater Shepparton City Council to assist us in hosting these major tournaments,” he said.
AFDA Chief Executive Officer, Maxwell Gratton, encouraged local residents to come down and watch Frisbee at a national level event.
“The Australian Ultimate Championships Division 2 will be held at Shepparton’s Sports City Precinct and is free for all spectators to attend. There will be many great matches to see. It will be a great opportunity to witness the excitement of Frisbee.”

Ultimate Frisbee has existed in Australia since the 1970s.
The Australian Ultimate Championships is a national level event that pits the country's top teams against each other in a peak competition across three days of competition.
This year, 30 club teams from around Australia will qualify through State Championships to battle it out for the national title.
