The Greater Shepparton Women’s Charter Award recognises and celebrates the achievements of women in Greater Shepparton. The award celebrates those whose stories, contributions and actions have inspired and encouraged others to reach their goals, through embracing diversity and making a difference on gender equality.
Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, encouraged residents to nominate a deserving women before nominations close on Friday 29 March 2024.
“You still have time to nominate your family members, colleagues, and friends for the award, and there is no limit to the number of nominations you can make. You may know many local women who deserve recognition,” he said.
“Nominating is simple and accessible, with forms available on Council’s website and at Council offices. Let’s come together to recognise and applaud the inspiring women among us.”
Councillor representative and champion of the Women’s Charter Advisory Committee, Cr Dinny Adem, said the award provided a valuable platform to celebrate how women have succeeded in all endeavours they chose to pursue and have inspired other women in the process.
“I encourage residents to take this opportunity to nominate the women they know that have contributed to our community and beyond,” he said.
“Many anecdotes abound about women positively impacting businesses, government, as well as various community organisations throughout Greater Shepparton and we want to recognise them. We have heard many stories of women and the positive impacts that they have had throughout Greater Shepparton and we want to recognise them.”
Jamie Lea was the 2023 Women’s Award recipient and was chosen due to her outstanding commitment to the community, along with the significant contribution she has made to local women through:
The Greater Shepparton Women’s Charter Advisory Committee is a group of passionate women from a variety of backgrounds who are committed to the advancement and recognition of local people within Greater Shepparton.
The 2024 Women’s Award will be presented as part of the Greater Shepparton Volunteer Recognition Awards Ceremony to be held on 20 May 2024.
