Works on the redevelopment of the former Maude Street Mall are complete with the one-way road from Fryers Street to High Street opening to traffic from Thursday 8 December.
The Maude Street Mall Precinct Redevelopment is part of Shepparton’s CBD Revitalisation Project. The project also included works to rejuvenate Vaughan Street and the Maude Street Bus Interchange and Maude Street between Ashenden and High Streets.
The redevelopment includes modern street furniture, shelters with solar panels, CCTV, audio, lighting, a new playground and the addition of one-way low-speed traffic, southbound from Fryers Street to High Street, with on-street parking.
The redevelopment was undertaken by Shepparton business Jarvis Delahey Contractors. The project received funding from both Federal and State Government.
Maude Street was officially opened on Thursday 8 December at 11.00am by Mayor Cr Shane Sali. “I would like to acknowledge the commitment of the former Federal and State Government representatives, Damian Drum and Suzanna Sheed, for their financial commitment to the project since the inception in 2020.
“It’s great to see this project completed in time for Christmas trade and the complimentary parking initiative for December and January,” said Cr Sali. “The redevelopment provides additional parking in Maude Street and closer access to some of the businesses in the former mall.”
“The children’s playground, the new shelters and the landscaping all change the amenity of the area and make it a pleasant space for people to shop, meet friends and enjoy activities in the new space,” said Cr Sali.
“I look forward to seeing the CBD experience a revitalisation in the coming months as Christmas activities and school holidays approach. Along with the complimentary parking it’s a perfect time to come and check out the new Maude Street precinct.”
