Maude Street Mall redevelopment is progressing as planned with Stage 3 works commencing earlier this week at the southern end of the mall near High Street.
Stage 3 features the southern end of the roadway including on-street parking, lighting, tree cells and street furniture.
Stage 1 works at the Fraser Street entrance and Stage 2 works at the northern end of the mall are still progressing. Works on Stage 1, which includes the installation of the new playground, are expected to be completed in early April, while works on Stage 2 will continue through to mid-July.
The hoarding will be removed as each stage is completed to improve accessibility around the mall whilst remaining works are in progress.
Greater Shepparton City Council Director Infrastructure Gary Randhawa said having different stages of works happening concurrently will allow the project to be completed sooner.
“The works are on track for completion later in the year, before the busy Christmas shopping period,” he said.
While the mall is looking quite different with plywood hoardings around the site, access to stores and parking in the CBD are largely unaffected with minor inconvenience.
Greater Shepparton City Council would like to thank retailers and traders in the mall for their patience while we complete this project and remind shoppers that businesses are open and trading as usual.
