Upgrades to the Tatura Park Exhibition & Equestrian Complex have been completed, including the stable block, skillion shed, chicken shed, cattle loading ramp and installation of new sports netting.
The total project cost of $53,523 was funded by the Commonwealth Government’s Drought Communities Programme – Extension Fund.
The stable block, skillion shed and chicken shed have new flooring subbases, evening out the flooring surface with granitic sand to provide a safe and secure footing for livestock. The cattle loading ramp has had new rails and gates installed to improve safety when loading and unloading stock.
The newly installed sports netting on the northern side of the Western Oval has been a welcome addition, with the replacement netting a more secure and appropriate alternative with the ability to remove a portion of the netting when required.
Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor Kim O’Keeffe said “Users of the facility will appreciate the number of improvements to Tatura Park, these improvements will increase the comfort of the animals in the stables and sheds, and the usability of the complex”
”The Tatura Park Complex hosts in excess of 40 events annually including International Dairy Week which has been held at the venue for over 30 years. It is imperative that we continue to support these events and their economic impact through ongoing capital improvements to the facility” said Cr O’Keeffe.
