Greater Shepparton City Council, in partnership with the Greater Shepparton Disability Advisory Committee, Shepparton Art Museum, Are-Able, V/Line, Department of Transport, Travelers Aide, and Intereach, is delighted to announce celebrations for International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) in 2023.
In early December, Greater Shepparton will come alive with a series of events, each contributing to the overarching goal of nurturing inclusivity and acknowledging the remarkable achievements of individuals with disabilities.
Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, said Council was pleased to work with local partners to deliver three events in the region for International Day of People with Disability.
“We take great pride in hosting three events this year, and I encourage members of our community to participate,” he said.
“We are fortunate to have members of our community working hard to remove barriers in the community while promoting access and inclusion. Each year, our celebrations for International Day of People with Disability grow, and this year promises to be no exception.”
Cr Ben Ladson, Council’s representative on the Greater Shepparton Disability Advisory Committee encourages people with disabilities, their families and carers to be part of this year’s IDPwD activities. “The Greater Shepparton Disability Advisory Committee looks forward to seeing community members at the various 2023 IDPwD activities. With music, art and education on offer over the three events, there is something for everyone to come along, enjoy and participate in,” Cr Ladson said.
The Greater Shepparton Universal Action Plan (UAIP) outlines Council’s commitment to champion the lives, talents, and achievements of individuals with disabilities, break down and challenge misconceptions, and encourage inclusive attitudes and behaviours in our community.
