Japanese Encephalitis Vaccinations
Greater Shepparton City Council’s immunisation team is offering Japanese Encephalitis vaccination to eligible people at the following Immunisation Clinics during the times specified below.
- Shepparton Senior Citizens Centre
- 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month

- 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month
- Riverside Plaza
4th Thursday of the month
Bookings available at 10:15am and 10:30am - Mooroopna
1st Wednesday of the month
Bookings available at 10am and 10:15am - Tatura
4th Tuesday of the month
Bookings available at 10am and 10:15am

Vaccination against Japanese Encephalitis vaccination is free to those who meet the following eligibility criteria:
People, aged 2 months or older, who live or routinely work in Greater Shepparton council area, AND
- regularly spend time engaging in outdoor activities that place them at risk of mosquito bites OR
- are experiencing homelessness OR
- are living in conditions with limited mosquito protection (such as in tents, caravans) OR
- are engaging in outdoor flood recovery (clean up) efforts.
People are also eligible for JE if they work or reside at
- a piggery including workers and their families, transport workers, staff involved in the care of pigs, veterinarians,
- a property that has been confirmed or is suspected to be infected with JE,
- pork abattoir or pork rendering plant,
- personnel who work directly with mosquitoes through their surveillance, or the control and management of mosquitoes such as EHOs/EHTs
- diagnostic and research lab workers who may be exposed to the virus.
You will need to book an appointment with your GP for an alternative Japanese Encephalitis vaccine if you are immunocompromised, pregnant, have received immunoglobulins in the last 3 months, or are aged between 2 months old and 9 months old.
Important note: If you received a JEV last year, you do not need any further JEV. If unsure, please check the Australian Immunisation Register on 1800 653 809 or via your My Gov account.
